These notes are old and were written while reading — they don’t necessarily reflect my current views.

Through lower transaction costs due to the internet, work in many fields gets less localised, which means that it fosters a winner take all market structure. This makes it very important to stand out, as capital is getting higher rewards than labor and the return on labor gets distributed less equally. For this he advocates deep work:

He makes a few points regarding ego depletion and that active intervention is therefore unsustainable. He goes on to mainly tell anecdotes about how to implement effective habits that foster deep work. Most suitable for me is probably setting time slots for very deep work in which I am completely undisturbed and in the best possible position to perform.

He also advocated to meditating on problems which I find very interesting.
