Ideas: Nietzsche as metaphor for ambiguity Prog Bar: 0.01% progress: 0.01
These notes were not taken while reading the book, but are notes of the lectures of Prof. Sadler on the topic:
This book tries to analyse good and evil as concepts and takes a view angles on that including historically, linguistically and in a traditional sense metaphysically:
Linguistically Nietzsche makes the argument that schlecht comes from schlich and therefore meaning non-special and bland. He combines this with his historical perspective that the concepts of good and bad are not inherent in man but evolved through time. The nobles defined them selfs as good and the non-nobles as schlicht/ schlecht. Metaphysically he states that good and bad are not given but the nobles just asserted that attribute to them self. He then goes on to describe that the self-affirming initial good was systemically fought against by our current religious systems like christianity, where everything weak becomes virtues.
