One of the better episodes in the series precisely because Roberts pushes back. The conversation about whether economics can say anything useful about meaning or flourishing — versus just efficiency — is the kind of thing you don’t hear economists say out loud very often.

Roberts’s Hayekian instincts are on full display; Cowen is his usual calibrated-provocateur self. The Adam Smith material in the second half is excellent.
